Posting to a List

To send a message to a mailing list you have subscribed to, simply email your post to:

Listname@oracle.wizards.com

Example: Addressing e-mail to DnD-L@oracle.wizards.com posts to the Dungeons & Dragons discussion list.

Leaving a List

To remove yourself from a mailing list, send an e-mail to listserv@oracle.wizards.com with the message:

Unsub Listname

Example: Unsub DnD-L unsubscribes the address used to send the email from the Dungeons & Dragons discussion list.

Suspending List Mail

To temporarily stop list mail, send an e-mail to listserv@oracle.wizards.com with the message:

NoMail Listname

To resume getting mail, send the command

Mail Listname

Example: NoMail MTG-L suspends mail from the Magic discussion list from being sent to you, without actually removing you from the list.

NoMail is often a good compromise for users who are leaving the office for vacation or on extended business trips, and who don't want a full mailbox on their return.

Receiving Mail in a Digest

Rather than getting many separate emails throughout the day, you can set digest mode and get all the days postings batched into a single (long) message. To switch from normal distribution to digest mode send an email to listserv@oracle.wizards.com with the following in the body of the message:

Set Listname Digest

To revert back to receiving individual messages, the body should contain:

Set Listname NoDigest

Example: Set DnD-L Digest would cause you to receive postings to the Dungeons & Dragons discussion list in digest mode.

NOTE: Send your posts to the same location regardless of whether you receive the digest or non-digest version of the list.

Receiving an Index of List Mail

This setting causes you to receive one posting per digest cycle containing only a list of the subject topics for all messages during that cycle. Instructions on how to retrieve the individual postings are included with the index. To set index mode send an email to listserv@oracle.wizards.com with the following in the body of the message:

Set Listname Index

To turn indexes off, the body should contain:

Set Listname NoIndex

Example: Set DnD-L Index would cause you to receive an index of postings to the Dungeons & Dragons discussion list once per digest cycle.

Checking Your Subscription Settings

To review your subscription settings for a particular list, use the query command. Send an email to listserv@oracle.wizards.com with the following in the body of the message:

Query Listname

Example: Query DnD-L Index would cause you to receive an email listing your settings for Dungeons & Dragons discussion.
